For breed clubs

A free breed profile for your breed — built with your club.

ThePetAdvisor builds a free breed profile page for every AKC breed, anchored on the breed’s national specialty — and we’d like your club to be part of it. ThePetAdvisor is run by Ingra Aamodt, a Wire Fox Terrier and Airedale Terrier exhibitor, and the profiles are built the way she’d want to find them as an exhibitor: the standard, the history, the specialty year, and the clubs, all in one place, with every fact sourced. This page is for parent clubs and regional clubs alike.

Here’s the first one we built, the profile that set the pattern for the rest: the Wire Fox Terrier breed profile.

What the profile is

Each breed profile is a full spread in twelve sections:

 1. Breed at a glance
 2. History
 3. The standard, and why it’s written that way
 4. Temperament & living with one
 5. Grooming
 6. Health testing
 7. The specialty year: the national specialty is the anchor
 8. Regional specialties through the year
 9. Clubs
 10. Rescue
 11. Breeder vs. rescue: honest guidance
 12. Claim this page

Everything is built from public sources, with a link to each source, and the specialty sections carry real data — dates, venues, judges, and entry counts from official judging programs, never invented. Every profile ends with a claim hook: the parent club can claim the page and set it straight.

Why partner with us

The profile is free to read, with no paywall on the facts. It puts the breed profile and the live specialty show data together in one place, so an exhibitor planning a season finds the breed and its show year side by side. Every fact is sourced, with a link back to its owner — the parent club, the AKC, the superintendent. We already link to the parent club from the profile’s clubs section, and to rescue. And the club’s corrections go first: as the parent club, your word on your breed outranks every other source we use.

This isn’t a generic content site writing about dog shows from the outside. It’s run by a fellow exhibitor — Ingra shows Wire Fox Terriers and Airedales — and the profiles are built for the people who actually go to the shows.

Four ways to take part

Check it for accuracy

Read your breed’s profile with a club officer’s eye. Tell us what’s off, what’s missing, or what’s out of date, and we’ll fix it. Write to [email protected].

Claim the page

Claiming makes the club the page’s official point of contact for corrections, and the page notes the club as the claiming club. Write to [email protected] to claim it.

Contribute

Photos, history, or anything you’d like the fancy to know about your breed — send it our way and we’ll add it, credited to the club. Write to [email protected].

Link to it

A link from your club’s website helps exhibitors find the profile. The snippet below is ready to paste — see linking to your breed’s profile.

If your club’s website has a links page, a resources page, or a breed page of its own, this is all it takes. Copy the snippet, paste it where your links live, and you’re done.

Copy, paste, done

Here’s the link, ready to paste:

Wire Fox Terrier Breed Profile — ThePetAdvisor

For your own breed, swap in your breed’s page address. The pattern is always https://thepetadvisor.com/breeds/<breed-slug>/ — for example, the French Bulldog profile lives at https://thepetadvisor.com/breeds/french-bulldog/.

If your site doesn’t take HTML, use the plain-text version:

Wire Fox Terrier Breed Profile — ThePetAdvisor: https://thepetadvisor.com/breeds/wire-fox-terrier/
 1. Copy the snippet above.
 2. Paste it where your links live — or send it to whoever updates your site.
 3. Want different wording, or a button instead of a text link? Email [email protected] and we’ll make one for you.

Questions

Does it cost the club anything?
No. The breed profile is free to read, and everything we ask of the club — checking it, claiming it, contributing, linking to it — is free too.
Do you change the breed standard?
No. We quote short passages of the standard with attribution and link to the parent club and the AKC for the full standard. The club’s word on the standard is the authority.
What does claiming the page mean?
Claiming makes the club the page’s official point of contact for corrections, and the page notes the club as the claiming club.
What if our breed doesn’t have a profile yet?
Email [email protected]. Profiles roll out in AKC popularity order, and owners can request their breed next.
