National specialty
The 2026 GSCA National Specialty — Sunday, October 11–Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Purina Farms, 300 Checkerboard Dr & Highway MM, Gray Summit, Missouri 63039, held in collaboration with the American Bouvier des Flandres Club. The national specialty was dedicated in memory of longtime member Enid Lagree. Conformation ran Wednesday, October 14 through Saturday, October 17. Entries closed Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at noon CDT. Event Chair: Frank Lavoie. Superintendent: Onofrio Dog Shows, LLC. The host hotel was the Wildwood Hotel, 2801 Fountain Pl, Wildwood, Missouri.
The week ran the full Giant program: scent work, agility, and carting on Sunday and Monday; obedience and rally, Fast CAT, the Parade of Titleholders, the Breeder’s Sweepstakes (judge Steve Fox), and the welcome party on Wednesday, October 14; the Western Regional (judge Sandy Weaver), the annual meeting, judges education, and the Giant Invitational Gala on Thursday, October 15; the Midwest Regional — sweepstakes judged by Dayl Phillip, breed judged by Bill Shelton — plus handling and structure seminars on Friday, October 16; and the national itself on Saturday, October 17, with sweepstakes judged by Lance Carter, the breed judged by Janine Starink, junior showmanship judged by Dayl Phillip, and the awards banquet in the evening. The 56th GSCA National Specialty — Wednesday, August 21–Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Purina Farms Event Center, Gray Summit, Missouri. Wednesday opened with the Parade of Titleholders and the Breeder’s Sweepstakes, judged by Shawne Imler; the Southern Regional Specialty, judged by Lydia Coleman Hutchinson, was Thursday, August 22; the national specialty, judged by Jimmy Moses, with sweepstakes and junior showmanship judged by Evalyn Gregory, was Friday, August 23; and the Midwest Regional Specialty, judged by Nancy Eilks, closed the conformation week on Saturday, August 24. Entries closed Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 6:00 PM EST. Show Chair: Robin Henderson.
Results (2024 national). Best of Breed was GCHG CH Hearthmore’s Wintergreen Mountain (“Monty”), who went on to win Best in Show at the 2024 AKC National Championship and Best in Show at the 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show — the first Giant Schnauzer to win Westminster. The other top winners from the 2024 national are unconfirmed.
