What is the Sand to Sea Non-Sporting show?

The Sand To Sea Non-Sporting Association of Southern California hosts two Non-Sporting group shows — Thursday and Friday, January 7–8, 2027 — at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio. It is the opening act of the desert’s January show season: the very next day, the Palm Springs New Year Classic begins its four-day run at the nearby Empire Polo Club.

Because it is a group show rather than an all-breed, the entry is all Non-Sporting breeds — Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Dalmatians, Poodles, Shibas, and the rest of the group — judged across just two days, with a Best Puppy competition on Thursday and four concurrent breed specialties.

The full 2027 breed-by-breed panel — 21 breeds across two days — is published on the show page.

Can you still enter?

Not yet — entries open November 4, 2026 through Dogzibit (dogzibit.com), and close Friday, December 23, 2026 at 12:00 noon PT. The 2027 premium list posts November 1, 2026, with entry fees and limits. Mark both dates: the desert January shows are popular and the premium window is short.

See the full show page for the day-by-day schedule, the verified judge list, entry details, and sources.

Attending in person

The fairgrounds shows are open to spectators — a group show is one of the best ways to see an entire AKC group’s breeds in a single day. Check the premium for admission and parking when it posts November 1.

Planning your visit

The Riverside County Fairgrounds are at 46350 Arabia St, Indio, CA. The closest major airport is Palm Springs International (PSP), about 25 minutes west. January is peak season in the desert — book refundable hotel rooms early and confirm pet policies directly with the hotel.

Why go

If you show a Non-Sporting breed, this is the most efficient two days of the winter: two group shows, a puppy competition, and four specialties — then you can roll straight into the Palm Springs New Year Classic weekend without moving your rig. For spectators, it’s a full-group education in a day: every Non-Sporting breed, ringside, in January sunshine.
