What is the Beagle National Specialty?
Every year, the National Beagle Club of America — the AKC’s parent club for the breed — hosts the one show that matters most to Beagle people: its National Specialty. This year it’s the 57th, November 2–5 at the MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tennessee — four days, indoors on carpet, for both Beagle varieties: not exceeding 13 inches, and over 13 but not exceeding 15 inches.
The week pairs the national with a regional specialty, and it’s a full performance week too: obedience and rally, all-breed Fast CAT and CAT, agility, all-breed scent work, a hunting performance trial, the Top Twenty judging, and the Blessing of the Hounds.

Can I still enter?
No — entries closed October 14. All entries closed at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with event secretary Jeanette Hasenkamp (MB-F, Inc.), and no new entries can be accepted after the closing.
But you can still go. National specialties are open to spectators — and with Fast CAT, agility, scent work, and the hound traditions like the Blessing of the Hounds, Kingsport is the place to be for Beagle people this week.
Why go?
If you love Beagles — or think you might want one — there is no better introduction than the national. You’ll see both varieties at their best, puppies in sweepstakes, juniors handling, and — the best part for a scenthound breed — Beagles doing the performance work they were made for, from Fast CAT to the hunting trial. The evening socials, the parades, and the awards dinner make it as much a reunion as a show. And because everything is at the host resort, you never have to leave.
