What is this show?

The Great Western Terrier Association of Southern California holds two terrier-group limited-breed shows — one in the morning, one in the afternoon — on Thursday, January 21, 2027, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds & Seaside Park. Every terrier breed, two chances at points, one day.

The GWTA shows open the four-day Ventura cluster weekend: the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills follows with three all-breed shows Friday through Sunday at the same venue. The day traditionally includes an all-terrier puppy sweepstakes with a sweepstakes group, 4–6 Month Beginner Puppy competition, and a deep bench of specialties and supported entries from Southern California’s terrier breed clubs — Cairn, Skye, Irish, Wheaten, Lakeland, Staffordshire Bull, Parson Russell, Welsh, Westie, and Rat Terrier clubs supported the 2026 shows.

Why go?

Two terrier majors in one day. That is the GWTA pitch: morning and afternoon limited-breed shows mean terrier exhibitors get two full shots at points without an all-breed entry — and the entries are deep enough to build majors.

Terrier people, all day. With ten-plus breed clubs supporting entries and specialties running alongside, Thursday in Ventura is the terrier social event of the winter.

Stay for the weekend. The Beverly Hills all-breed shows run Friday through Sunday at the same fairgrounds — one setup, four days, terrier day plus three all-breed days.

Day by day
